Example: Planning a Day in Odaiba

In this example, we’ll plan a day’s itinerary for Odaiba in Tokyo bay. It’s a spacious area with a different vibe to central Tokyo, and lots of things to do!

Odaiba, Tokyo

1) Pick out Cards for that Area

Each card has the location in the bottom corner. So to start, we’ll pick out the cards for attractions in Odaiba:

2) Sort into Must-do’s and Maybe’s

There’s a lot to do in Tokyo, so it’s important to prioritise your must-visit places! Make a pile of must-do attractions, and a pile of maybe’s for if you have time. They can be a back-up if you time and energy (and if your feet don’t hurt too much!).

3) Build your Itinerary

If you want to, you can put them in order them to make a full itinerary and take a photo for reference. Or be flexible and leave it open, to see what you feel like doing first on the day!

The cards are colour-coded, so you can make sure you have the right balance of tourist attractions, culture, nature and shopping.

Colour-coded cards

Each card has an estimate of how long you’ll need to visit. Everyone travels at a different pace, but it’ll give you an idea of whether you need a few hours, half a day or a whole day.

Remember to include time for travelling – it can take a while to get from place to place!

There are helpful icons to show you what’s good for a rainy day, which places are best for food and what you need to book in advance.

The backs of the cards tell you what else is nearby, for more ideas, and to help you maximise your time:

3) Add Food

Food’s a big part of the experience of travelling, and Japanese food’s amazing! The pink cards are for different types of Japanese food, with tips for where to find them, what to look for and what you can’t miss.
