I hope you’re all staying safe in this difficult time. It’s part of Cakes with Faces’ mission to make you smile with fun designs – and if you need to wear face masks, they may as well be cute ones! I’ve added some fabric scraps with Cakes with Faces designs to the shop – perfect for making face masks!
Fabric Scraps
There’s a limited supply of fabric scraps (now sold out). They’re perfect for making face masks, and for sewing and arts and crafts projects at home.
The fabric pieces are fairly small, but they’re good for making small pouches or purses, headbands, hair ties, scrunchies and hair bows to match the dresses. I made a few bows myself – you might have seen me wearing them!
The fabric’s 100% cotton and there’s a variety of cute designs, featuring Cakes with Faces characters. There’s a limited supply – once sold they won’t be restocked.
They’re actually off-cuts from fabric I’ve had printed for other things. Whenever there’s a spare space on the fabric, I got a few extra designs printed to fill up the gaps. They’ve just been in the stock room until now, when I realised you could use them for sewing projects – and they’re perfect for face masks.
Limited Supply Available
The first batch of fabric scraps was on sale a few weeks ago and sold out really quickly, so if you’d like some, don’t leave it too long!
Face Mask Patterns
I’ve kept some of the Cute Explosion fabric to make some face masks for myself. It’s a bit confusing knowing what’s best to use as a filter, and which pattern’s best (especially if you wear glasses!) so if you have any tips let me know on Twitter or Instagram! I’ll let you know how I get on and I’ll post some pics when they’re done.
Super Cute Kawaii have shared links to patterns for face masks, including easy versions if you’re a beginner at sewing. It’s all here in their blog post.
Your Face Masks
I’ve loved seeing what you’ve made with the fabric scraps so far! Here are some pics that have been sent to me already. The yellow ties go really well with the bumblebee cat fabric:
