Neko Atsume Frog Game
Tabikaeru is a new game from the makers of Neko Atsume. It’s a travelling frog game – you pack items into a frog’s backpack, then he goes travelling and brings back souvenirs and photos for you. But really, we all know the main point of the game is: it’s cute.
If, like me, you don’t have a lot of spare time, this type of low maintenance game is ideal. You can open it up every now and then when you have a spare moment, see what’s going on, and it doesn’t require a lot of time or gaming skill!
How to Download Tabikaeru
Tabikaeru is available for free on iTunes and Android. You can spend money to buy extra clover but you don’t have to. Here are the links to download it:

How to Play Tabikaeru
It’s all in Japanese, but you can muddle your way through even if you don’t read any Japanese. And if you’re studying Japanese, you can pretend you’re practicing your reading skills!
Here’s a video about a step by step guide on how to play. I’ve also included some tips and things I didn’t realise at first – like how the lottery works, and what to do if your frog doesn’t come back.:
Is it as good as Neko Atsume?
I absolutely loved Neko Atsume, and so far it doesn’t feel like there’s quite as much going on in Tabikaeru. It feels like there should be more items in the shop, and more lower priced goods (I’m trying to save up clover for the fancy sleeping bags and bowls but I never seem to have enough!).
However, it is very cute, and it’s nice to go back to the world of Neko Atsume with all its pastel colours and cuteness. There’s something small and happy about the music and the art style. I’ve heard the frog’s travelling buddies are very cute, so I’m looking forward to meeting more of them as the game progresses.
