Designing UniCorn-on-the-Cob
I’d been wanting to design a unicorn t-shirt for a while. There are plenty of cute pastel unicorns in the world already, and while I certainly do love them, I wanted to do something a bit different. I love popcorn, and puns – so that’s how UniCorn was born. (And so was Pegasaurus along the way…)
It actually started off with a “pegasus versus unicorn” idea – while unicorns have risen to stardom, pegasus sometimes gets forgotten about – and pegasus can fly! But the design wasn’t really coming across that well, so I kept drawing and it took a different direction. Once I started drawing unicorn-on-the-cob, I realised that was a lot more fun, and a lot more Cakes with Faces style!
UniCorn went through a few different character designs, with different compositions, before finally landing in a big box of freshly popped popcorn. I’ve been working on the new design for a while, and making sure all the details, print size and colours are just right (details matter!).
